As a group which is dedicated to the history of Europe from 1793-1815 we are aware of the great importance of preserving our battlefield sites in the honour of the countless individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice in order to create the Europe that we know today. To consider placing a landfill site in such close proximity to the "Peace Monument" and the historic battlefield is insensitive to say the least , if not almost sacrilege.I urge the "powers that be" to seriously reconsider this proposal.
